Apple and Google should watch their backs

by MIRANDA ROUTE Staff Writer

Microsoft has been falling in the dust lately, leaving it trailing behind Google and Apple, but Microsoft revealed it has a secret weapon waiting to emerge. Microsoft’s DNA is changing, it seems, and it plans to make a comeback for the vanishing PC. Many more people are using tablets or smartphones, which are dominated by Apple, and many people use Google as their main search engine, leaving Microsoft’s Bing in the dirt. However, Microsoft is planning to give a connected experience throughout all of their products. This means that whether you are using a PC, a tablet, or even your television, the device will look different, but the core experience will be the same. You will be able to do the same things on your tablet as you can on your PC. With this unity of products, Microsoft hopes user satisfaction will increase and, in a few years, Microsoft will be at the top of the charts once more. Microsoft is creating a horde of new devices, including tablets, touchscreen displays, and convertible notebooks. Also, every Microsoft product will incorporate cloud-based programs like Windows Live, SkyDrive, and Bing. All of your devices will give you the same access to apps, history, and preferences. This is similar to Apple’s iCloud. Microsoft will be so far ahead because of the disunity of Apple’s and Google’s systems. For example, iPads and iPhones are mostly for apps and communication only, while Macs are for creation and use at work. All Microsoft products will be able to do all of these things. An anonymous source says, “I use all Apple products, so it will be surprising if Microsoft can make something better.” Also, Google requires constant connection to the Internet. Without it, Google’s search engine or any other service will not be accessible. Microsoft is in the process of building Windows 8, which will have extraordinary features like 3-D games and video editing tools. Another anonymous source says, “I heard about the new Windows 8 and I can’t wait to see what it’s about.” The company considers itself to be very patient and it is willing to wait a few years for the positive reaction it is expecting from its consumers. We are all very excited for this big change in the world of Microsoft. Hopefully it turns out to be a good one.
