Christmas activities

For the people that celebrate it – Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. It’s the one month where there are many things to do, places to go, and things to see; the one special time where family and friends come together to spend this spectacular holiday with one another.

The best part of Christmas has to be decorating. Families come together to set up the Christmas tree and fill it with enchanting lights and beautiful ornaments. People fill their houses with lights and tinsel, and cute decorations involving Santa Clause and snow men. Houses are usually filled with warm Christmas candles and such. Decorating outside is fun, too. No one wants to have a dark house. This is the time of year to have joyful decorations!

“My favorite part about Christmas has to be decorating my tree and my house. I also like driving around and seeing all the pretty lights outside. I love watching all the original cartoon shows such as Rudolph, Santa Clause is Coming to Town, and Frosty,” said sophmore Alyssa Clemente.

No one can forget baking! Everyone loves to bake Christmas cookies, brownies, and cakes to make the feast on Christmas Eve more delicious than Thanksgiving. Don’t forget about baking some cookies and pouring some milk for Santa Clause.

Who can forget about ABC Family’s 25 days of Christmas? Christmas movies are absolutely the best to watch around Christmas time, especially with a cup of hot cocoa. Everyone in the family can enjoy movies like “Elf”, “Deck the Halls”, “Home Alone”, “Santa Baby”, and many more.

“My favorite activity during the holidays is being with my family and watching some classic Christmas movies, like Rudolf,” said senior Steven Nunes.

Many people can agree that the best part of Christmas has to be all the broadway shows, musicals, concerts and ice skating shows. Christmas shows are absolutely amazing and very entertaining to watch with your entire family. It is probably, by far, the best time of the year to go to shows such as these. Holiday shows you can see are “Radio City Christmas Spectacular”, “The Nutcracker”, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, “A Christmas Carol”, and “Z100’s Jingle Ball”. You cannot miss the opportunity to see these phenomenal entertainments.

Everyone has heard of Christmas caroling, but how many people actually do it? Many people do not carol, but for the people that do, it is very fun and joyful, especially because this is the only month you can actually carol. It is the perfect thing to bring joy to all the families in their neighborhood.

The best time to go ice skating is definitely around December. Ice skating is fun to do, even if you do not know how. Children love to skate around, as well as adults. It is the perfect activity for the entire family, old and young.

If you live by New York City, then you have probably seen the Rockefeller Tree. The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is a world-wide symbol of the holidays. This tree is about 80 feet tall, filled with more than 30,000 multi-colored lights, and crowned with a Swarovski star. If you live by the city, this is definetely something to check out.
