The Coachella Music and Arts Festival is an annual festival that takes place in the hot deserts of California, taking place this year from April 10-12 with a soaring crowd that dances all day to their favorite bands and musicians. Most importantly, Coachella fashion takes a popular stand as celebrities make hip, bohemian-style a craze for festivals everywhere.
If you’re like me, then you were live streaming the whole event, wishing you could be in 90 degree weather.
“Coachella is the best place to pull off any trend you’re not sure about since men wear capes instead of shirts and shoes are forgotten,” says freshman Morgan Brechman.
This year’s music festival was not just about the neon bandeau tops and high-waisted shorts. A strong 70’s influence brought in styles with fringe details and breezy blouses that make you feel relaxed in the hot Californian sun, but are still hip and chic.
Everywhere you looked, you found tassels on lightweight suede jackets, purses and shoes. Fringe is an effortless way to add a bohemian touch to your look this spring.
Bella Thorne carried a bright turquoise fringe bag at the H&M Loves Coachella party.
During Coachella 2015, Fergie, Gigi Hadid, and Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio all rocked a suede jacket with fringe that freely swayed by their sides. Guys, don’t feel neglected because even Cody Simpson was rocking his suede fringe jacket through the desert.
Wearing a crochet or lace applique makes an outfit elevated and simply more sophisticated.
Intricate cream dresses made a reappearance throughout this year’s music festival fashion. Feminine floral patterns were the most worn design in Coachella. Adding a motto jacket or leather combat boots instantly gives you an edgy vibe.
Nikki Reed, Paris and Nikki Hilton, Kate Bosworth, and Jamie Chung made the all-white trend a hit. By simply wearing a long white, breezy dress and piling on your accessories, you are ready to enjoy a long night out jamming to your favorite musicians. If you want to look put together, but don’t want to wake up three hours prior to the event to plan your outfit, this Coachella trend will be your favorite.
For all the lazy girls out there, rompers are your thing. Julianne Hough, while showing off her pink hair, wore a gauze play-suit with an open back and sleeveless silhouette that showed off her toned legs, yet kept her cool.
When it comes to festival fashion, it’s all about the details. When you’re getting ready to head into the desert, take into account everything from eye-wear, headpieces, temporary tattoos, statement jewelry and bags. The perfect Coachella shoes are gladiator sandals. You’ll be able to walk through the desert sand and dress up to go to a fancy event.
“Coachella is good for two things: one – good music and two – hip fashion,” says freshman Sophia Chiu.
The Queen of Coachella fashion every year, who knows all the in and outs of the perfect boho, hip style, is Vanessa Hudgens, a style icon for music festivals. Her bejeweled nails and statement necklaces always take her outfits over the edge.
Other Coachella queens include Kendall Jenner, who had seriously on-point looks throughout the weekend. Her Dylanex collar statement necklace pulled her out from the crowd. Katy Perry also looked very chic in a long maxi, which she adorned with a unique multi-colored choker.
What Coachella trend for this year was your favorite, and which one will you be rocking this spring?
