The sixth installment of “Fast & Furious” franchise hit theaters May 24 and of course it was as successful as the last five films.
Writer Chris Morgan and director Justin Lin did a phenomenal job creating this film, keeping everyone in the audience on their toes and very intrigued. The fast cars and car chasing kept everyone’s attention focused and constantly entertained. You could not let your eyes off the screen for one second, or you would miss something.
The casting is the same, of course, adding new cast members Luke Evans as Owen Shaw, Gina Carano as Riley, John Ortiz as Arturo Braga, and old cast member, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz.
Obviously, the film is about crime and fast cars. Following their successful Rio heist, Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, and his crew of professional criminals have retired, each settling down in a different country. Dominic lives with Elena; his sister Mia lives with Brian O’Connor and their son; Jack, Gisele, and Han moved to Hong Kong; and Roman and Tej live a luxurious lifestyle.
The calm is disrupted by Diplomatic Security Service agent Luke Hobbs and his partner Riley, who are investigating the destruction of a Russian military convoy by a British Special Forces soldier Owen Shaw and his crew. Hobbs asks Toretto and his crew to help take down Shaw, after revealing a picture of Toretto’s former girlfriend Letty, whom he thought was dead.
In exchange for helping Hobbs, Toretto and the crew receive full amnesty for their past crimes, allowing them to return home to the United States.
“Oh my god. When I realized Letty was alive I literally went crazy. I think this is one of the best ‘Fast & Furious’ movies yet,” said junior Matt Anderson.
Diesel once again did an incredible job. Watching him act is such a pleasure. I love how he showed his mixed emotions and concerns over Lenny, who he is still deeply in love with. He is so funny and he just brings the movie altogether. He literally becomes his character in every Fast & Furious film. Without him, there would be no movie.
Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, plays Luke Hobbs and there are no words to describe his acting other than phenomenal. His role as Hobbs was the perfect role for him because he needed to be serious and strong, and due to his time in WWE, he displays just that.
Having Johnson in the “Fast & Furious” films was the best idea the producers have ever thought of. It was simply a perfect fit.
“I love love love Dwayne Johnson. He literally makes the movie even better,” said sophomore Alyssa Clemente.
Ludacris did a great job playing Tej Parker once again. He was hilarious, making everyone in the audience die of laughter. His presence in the movie just brings excitement in the room.
Personally, I think that everyone in the cast did a fantastic job with their roles. Not one person did a terrible job, and the cast chosen was absolutely perfect for the movie. This is obviously one of the several reasons why the “Fast & Furious” films are so successful.
Overall, “Fast & Furious 6” was once again a huge success, probably one of the best action movies of 2013. Viewers are already raving about the upcoming “Fast & Furious 7” to come in the summer of 2014.
