Kausar Shaik is a passionate hard-working student at MTHS. Shaik is also a fan of the shows “How To Get Away With Murder” and “Remember the Titans.” She especially enjoys escape rooms, going shopping, and photography.
In addition to being a part of the Spanish Honor Society, Rho Kappa Honor Society, and National Honor Society, Shaik is also working as a tennis coach for kids ages 4-12 at the Monroe Township Sports Center. Along with this, she is a student representative for the Township of Monroe’s human relations commissions appointed by Mayor Dalina.
Shaik is one of three Captains and the first varsity singles of the tennis team. Being number one this season has taught her the importance of being level-headed during tense times. Being captain has allowed her to realize that it is important to keep calm and be able to communicate with her team to solve issues and bring up morale. Shaik believes that when her team’s spirit was down, it was her job to lift them back up.

One thing about the tennis program that Shaik will miss the most is the 25 sisters she’s gained over the past 3 years. They have gained such a deep bond over the years and Shaik says: “Over the past 3 years we’ve all been through a lot together and I’m going to miss the couple months a year where we just get to have together. They’re supportive, funny, caring, and hilarious. We have so many inside jokes and memories that I’ll cherish and laugh at forever. I consider myself lucky to have gotten to know each and every one of them.”
Though Shaik does not have a dream college, she plans on majoring in an interdisciplinary major known as PPE (Politics, Philosophy, and Economics). Along with this, she will be taking her love for listening and understanding people to pursue law, as she has hopes of one day becoming a lawyer.
