Spider-Man has still got it

by SASHA RISKO Staff Writer

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2”, starring Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, was recently released into theaters on May 4, 2014, and is already amazing viewers everywhere.

In the classic tale of Spider-Man, a boy named Peter Parker gets bitten by a radioactive spider whose venom infuses his blood with super-natural, spider-like abilities, which turns him into Spider-Man.

The movie starts off with Peter’s dad, Richard Parker, recording a video message explaining his disappearance. When he and his wife Mary board the private jet of a man who was sent to assassinate Richard, the plane crashes and they die, explaining how Peter Parker became an orphan.

In present day, Peter still fights crime as Spider-Man, protecting the world from harm by using his spidey-senses and spidey-powers with his beautiful girlfriend, Gwen Stacy, at his side.

Peter soon pursues Aleksei Sytsevich (Paul Giamatti), who was attempting to steal a truck containing plutonium vials.

During the chase, Spider-Man saves an OsCorp Industries employee, Max Dillon (Jamie Foxx), who begins to idolize Spider-Man.

While tending to his responsibilities at OsCorp, Dillon loses his balance and falls into a tank of genetically modified eels. The eels attack him and he turns into a living electric generator, otherwise known as Electro.

The adventure of the Amazing Spider-Man unfolds from there.

Personally, I think the movie was a good continuation of the first one, though I do not remember much about it, given I saw it two years ago.

Still, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” is a perfect mix of romance, comedy, and adventure that will surely keep you on the edge of your seat.

There were so many twists and turns that kept my interest throughout, and I honestly do believe that this movie was better than the first. It was a perfect continuation that gave Spider-Man fans the satisfaction they needed after having to wait two years for the sequel to the first movie.

“I am honestly a huge fan of Spider-Man, especially the old ones, so at first I did not really want to give the new movies a try,” said freshman Chris Preuster, “but after seeing the first movie and hearing about the sequel, I was so surprised at how well they made the movie and how well the actors portrayed their characters.”

As many people may know, Stone and Garfield are actually a couple outside of the movie, which I think really helps with the chemistry on set.

“The chemistry between Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield in the movie as Peter and Gwen is truly incredible,” said freshman Erica Quigley. “I honestly do not think they could have chosen better people to play those parts.”

If your spidey-senses are tingling for an action-packed adventure, then you should definitely head on over to see “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” in theaters while its still out!

Have you seen Spidey in his second adventure? If so, what did you think?
