At the 57th annual Grammys on Sunday, February 8, 2015, many celebrities brought their best to the red carpet, while others unfortunately did not.
The first one to start off on my worst dressed list is none other than Iggy Azalea. Her blue dress with slits everywhere was not even the worst part, it was her interesting hairdo. It blew up Twitter with people comparing it to a million different things like a pretzel, an Easter basket, ramen noodles, and, unfortunately for Azalea, they all looked similar to her hair.
Her hair was almost as bad as her music. Almost.
I was extremely disappointed in Rihanna’s outfit. It was a Giambattista Valli pink dress that had an overly huge ruffled skirt. Critics also took to Twitter to make fun her of dress, comparing it to something someone would wear to a quinceanera.
Sophomore Alannah McCourt said, “Who thought that would be a good idea?”
Although Ri totally missed the mark on this one, let’s not forget about all the other times where she has absolutely killed it.
Charlie XCX also landed herself high on my worst dressed list with an all white Moschino suit and a pink bow tie and furry shoal.
Of course, I cannot forget to add Madonna. Her black and pink Givenchy outfit (or should I say costume) was just straight-up tacky. The leather gloves and knee-high boots were not age-appropriate, and neither was the amount of skin and cleavage she showed. Did I mention she is 56 and is a mother of four?
It was not just some of the ladies who chose the wrong outfits, but Pharrell, too. He wore a gray suit, but instead of opting for normal dress pants, he wore shorts like he did at the Oscars last year.
I guess he tried changing it up this time by wearing a suit that was color-changing. In person, it is gray, but when it is photographed, it comes out white. It does not matter to me what color the suit is, the shorts just looked absolutely ridiculous.
Fortunately, there were many who killed it on the red carpet.
For starters, Taylor Swift looked amazing in her Ellie Saab dress. The gown had a long skirt, but included had a wide slit in the middle, showing off her long, supermodel legs and her pink Giuseppe Zanotti heels.
Sophomore Emma Trask said, “I loved Taylor’s dress. It was a cute pop of color that the red carpet needed.”
Beyoncé, of course, made my list, no surprise. She strutted in her black Proenza Schouler dress that included a deep V and a lace-looking texture.
Gwen Stefani skipped the typical gown, going for a jumpsuit on the red carpet. The “Hollaback Girl” singer sported a black Atelier Versace jumpsuit with her blonde hair swept back.
The award for best dressed on red carpet definitely goes to Lady Gaga. I admire her transformation from her Grammys look a few years ago, which included her inside a giant egg.
She looked stunning in her silver beaded Brandon Maxwell Gown. It had a low cut in the front and a slit down the leg, but still looked elegant. Of course, her old, crazy outfits were fun to see, but I am loving this new look on Gaga.
Although some celebrities had some questionable outfit choices, there were many who made up for others’ mistakes. Hopefully next year’s Grammys will have even better red carpet looks.
Who do you think was the worst dressed? Best dressed?
